Real estate developers are once again getting creative to promote their inventory. Some are giving away cars or trips. All are paying higher real estate commissions to local realtors. This photo shows a few of the 300 windsocks that were distributed by a local developer, John King. The message on the windsocks reads “You may not need a windsock, but I need to sell some waterfront property. Please visit www.destindevelopment.com.“
John came up with the windsocks idea and with the help of his wife and office staff, discovered that finding the right windsock and having them printed was much easier said than done. It was decided that the windsocks would be “manufactured” at the King’s residence, with Debbie King in charge of putting it all together. It took several months, several prototypes, and several sore hands to get all 300 completed. This Memorial Day weekend, John, along with a couple of helpers, set out to place the windsocks on as many docks as possible in an effort to bring attention to his website and the property he has for sale in Northwest Florida. John is known in the area for having some “creative” advertising in the past, and once again, he has come up with an idea that many won’t forget.
